A firm in Pompano Beach is one of three developers that want to redevelop a former power-plant site in downtown Fort Pierce.
RMA Redevelopment Management Associates of Pompano Beach has proposed building about 95 apartments, about 40 townhouses, an 84-room hotel and a parking garage with a rooftop pool shared by residents and hotel guests.
The 7.1-acre site is the location of the former H.D. King power plant, which was razed in 2008.
The city government and the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority have spent more than $4.2 million to remove contaminated soil from the site. According to the state Department of Environmental Protection, the cleanup has been completed.
In addition to RMA Redevelopment in Pompano Beach, Framework Group of Tampa and Vero Beach developer Keith Kite want to redevelop the former power-plant site in Fort Pierce.
In partnership with Peachtree Hotel Group of Atlanta and Proctor Construction of Vero Beach, Kite proposed the construction of a hotel and three to six buildings for a restaurant, shops and garage space for parking.
Framework Group has proposed a 120-room hotel and a 200-unit apartment complex, plus a four-level parking garage, a 1,500-square-foot coffee shop, a 6,500-square-foot restaurant and a 34,000-square-foot conference center. [TCPalm.com] – Mike Seemuth
